The Hon. Will Hodgman to assist in raising awareness around Green Li-ion’s li-ion battery innovative recycling and remanufacturing technology
Green Li-ion, a revolutionary lithium-ion battery recycling technology company based in the USA, Europe, Australia, and Singapore, announced that it has appointed the Hon. Will Hodgman as an advisor to the company’s Board of Directors. Hodgman will support Green Li-ion’s mission to create a circular economy for spent lithium-ion batteries and waste.
As an advisor to Green Li-ion’s board, Mr. Hodgman brings government policy experience and a deep understanding of innovative companies' role in combating climate change and enabling the clean energy transition. As Premier of Tasmania, Mr. Hodgman implemented a climate action plan to ensure that the state became the first in Australia to achieve 100% renewable electricity generation. He continued his renewable energy advocacy as Australia’s High Commissioner to Singapore, spearheading the ratification of the Singapore-Australia Green Economy Agreement (SAGEA), the world’s first green economy agreement.
"The Hon. Will Hodgman’s experience and perspectives are an invaluable addition to our leadership team," said Leon Farrant, CEO and Co-Founder of Green Li-ion. “Working with a seasoned leader who understands how policy and private enterprise can work together to produce climate progress will be crucial in raising awareness of our novel li-ion battery recycling and remanufacturing technology and in helping to secure grant and government support. In the U.S.in particular, the Inflation Reduction Act and associated initiatives are poised to lift domestic lithium-ion battery recycling to new heights, and Mr. Hodgman will provide valuable insights into how to best make Green Li-ion a major player in that process.”
“Through out my career in government in both Australia and South East Asia, I have held a deep passion and commitment to be at the forefront of the green transition,” said Mr. Hodgman. “International cooperation is crucial to ensure that the most innovative and effective ideas cross borders to become widely adopted. With its revolutionary battery-recycling technology and worldwide operations, Green Li-ion gives me great hope for a net-zero future, and I am energized to be on the team.”
With around 95% of lithium-ion batteries not being recycled globally, Green Li-ion is the world’s first and only technology provider for commercial-scale conversion from black mass to cathode material, improving recyclers' margins on batteries by up to 4x and reducing environmental impact. The first working, commercial operation is slated to start production in the second half of 2023 at a plant operated by Aleon in Oklahoma.
Green Li-ion is revolutionizing the energy storage industry with the world's first clean technology that fully remanufactures spent lithium-Ion batteries and waste. To find out more, visit the Green Li-ion website.
